“Appraisal. The Pentax K10D is a solid offering from one of the major names in photography. They’ve taken a different approach to how the camera makes images. Think what you like about it, difference is good. All the world is not perfectly white balanced, and no camera can be made to see how our eyes do. The most exciting part about the resurgence of the SLR in the last few years is how it’s reconnecting the photographer to the camera. People who’ve grown accustomed to Program mode are switching back to Aperture priority, and remembering with a twinkle how wonderfully a prime lens can render the world. Shoot close to wide open with a prime, or even a zoom, and you can make it see a special person the way your mind does: isolated, with everything else a soft blur.
The Pentax K10D is designed to help you reconnect with photography in a way that I admire. Don’t take it lightly, though. You will have to learn how to use the K10D, and won’t be able to rely on it as much to make important color temperature decisions for you. Though it’s mostly only a problem indoors, there you’ll have to take time, and at least one test shot as I’ve demonstrated above.
The K10D is for photographers committed to the process, and who want to work as they did with film. But as with film, once you learn how to use the K10D’s special features, like the Sv and TAv ISO adjustment modes, you may find a whole new dimension to photography. Given its excellent ISO 1,600 performance, there’s some room to explore. “

Есть у меня слабость – люблю старые, надежные, красивые решения. Механические часы, машина с ручной коробкой передач, BBC на коротких волнах вместо online, бритвы Gillette со стандартными безопасными лезвиями и т.д.
Вчера озадачился переносом концерта Сукачева с DVD на носитель для прослушивания в машине, там у меня CD ченджер и кассетник (mp3 нет, и хорошо). Очевидный вариант был бы перетащить звуковую дорожку на audio cd. Но мы легких путей не ищем, да и все слоты в ченджере у меня уже заняты.
Сделал правильный stereo mix каналов на dvd, переписал на хромовую ленту. Листочек со списком песен, сквозной канал на деке, Dolby B и авто паузы… Романтика 🙂

Показана с позиций, которая разделается большинством канадцев, насколько я могу судить.
Герой нашего времени
За пару последних вечеров перечитал “Героя Нашего Времени” Лермонтова, когда его читал до этого последний раз не помню уже, очень давно.
Обращаться к этому произведению, мне кажется, нужно как минимум два раза.
Первый раз – в детстве/юности для общего развития и получения дополнительных полезных навыков при общение с прекрасным полом.
Второй раз – уже в более зрелом возрасте (дожил, $#@), когда ты можешь относиться к Печорину через проекцию своих совершенных поступков, от этого книга задевает душу сильнее. И в какой-то степени часть грустных поступков обусловлена выводами сделанными из ее чтения первый раз. Парадокс.
Пироги, revision #2
В выходные решил закрепить знания в приготовлении пирогов (смотри первый опыт). Заодно решил немного автоматизировать процесс, а именно запрячь bread machine делать тесто. Получилось нормально, оставшиеся недочеты:
1. Лепить лучше кулебяки (больше рыбы, тоньше тесто)
2. Найти толокно для шанег
MS and UTC
Как же откровенно заеб.. затрахала MS с использованием BIOS часов в Windows как локальных вместо UTC. Помимо проблем с двойной загрузкой других OS это еще и редкостный геморрой при программировании приложений которые должны корректно переносить смену часовых поясов, летнего режима времени и прочего. ИДИОТЫ!

Local time is bad because it is neither continuously nor monotonously increasing. Period. Using it as your internally yardstick is equally stupid. Interestingly, NTFS keeps time in UTC, which indicates that at least someone around the block still had their senses.
Second, hadn’t it been for the fact that timezone is implemented as a machine instead of a user property, there would have been no problems. Observe the problems that occurred before time zone redirection was implemented in Terminal Server (And why only there? Obviously the kernel now has the capability to keep a time zone per logon session).
As for the backward compatibility argument: Who cared about the users who had RealTimeIsUniversal=1?Appearantly none, because it is still broken as of XPsp2, after umpteen years of complaining from users. Instead, users that mysteriously find it easier to set their clock in the BIOS than in the system notification area are catered to. Most end-users I know, are not even aware that there *is* a BIOS setup.”
